It's a Bright and Sunny 54 degrees out right now, better enjoy it today because I think tomorrow it's supposed to be a high of 30!!! We are already into the NEW YEAR and it's going fast! It'll be Spring before you know it, but before that we have Valentine's Day to look forward to, then HEAVY into the planting season!! We already have some of our packaged garden seed out for sale in the flower shop, and our Bulk packaged seed should be available in a few weeks. The word is that seed is gonna be scarce this year, but so far we haven't seen a problem. I have all my tomato and pepper seed in and ready to seed, and looks like your garden seed is all going to be available here! Last year brought such an abundance of gardeners; both old timers that wanted to increase their garden and fill their pantry, and new gardeners that were trying their hand at it for the very first time. Hence the seed supply was depleted at the seed banks, also there were the usual weather related shortages and the pandemic didn't help things either.
Last year was a banner year for us, it was our 40th year in business here and it was a doozy. We are SO THANKFUL for all our loyal customers; we had no idea how the pandemic, quarantines, social distancing, masks, etc. would affect us but with all of us pulling together it worked!!!! THANK YOU!!! It looks like we will be following the same protocol this year, so we are at least a little more prepared for it. We will again NOT have an open house to avoid having too many folks in here at one time, but we will look forward to seeing you all when you are ready to plant. REMEMBER, we always say that our frost free date is May 10th, so please try to contain your excitement on planting the tender annuals. We WILL have potatoes, onion sets and plants, garden seed, etc. ready come the middle of March so that time will be here soon enough. I just have to proof my variety list that I do every year, then it will be ready in the flower shop to pick up and peruse just to get you in the planting spirit! As we do every year, there are a few new varieties of annuals, perennials, and veggies that we have, it's always fun to try new things.
We are looking forward to a GREAT YEAR, praying that we can all get beyond this pandemic and the division that last year brought. Hoping to see you in a couple of months, Jan & Curtis
