Yes, it got cold again last night, not as cold as they had predicted here but cold enough for ice on the windshield!! I hope that you all covered your tender plants and keep a close watch on tomorrow night's forecast!
We are keeping retail stocked and are running out of many varieites of plants, too early for a normal year but what's normal any more??? Folks are planting bigger gardens than they "normally" do and a LOT of folks are planting gardens for the first time! Hope that this trend continues to grow in years to come so we can all enjoy the fresh fruits of our own labor! There's a lot to be said for going out to YOUR garden, picking YOUR vegetables and feeding YOUR family!!!
We always use May 10th as our typical frost free date, so Monday, the 11th, is when we put out the warm weather plants. We have several varieties of cucumbers, squash, cantelope, watermelons, sweet potatoes, and okra plants that will be ready. Keep in mind the current weather conditions before planting as they prefer a warm soil to thrive.
Have a wonderful weekend, and a very HAPPY Mother's day to you! Hoping you get to spend time with family and stay safe and well!!!!
