April 26, 2020

Good Morning! It's promising to be a BEAUTIFUL day out; trees and bushes are blooming, the sun is shining and all is well with the world. It's just this crazy virus thing that has us kept apart!!

It has been a most difficult week. I received the news on Monday from her husband, that Barbara Goebel ( my long time friend and co worker) died in a bicycle accident on Sunday, the 19th. She was one of the most amazing women that I have known, being able to do about anything and with so much passion for whatever she was into!! So many memories of us working together here in the greenhouse with our daughters playing around us and I am pretty sure that some of you would remember her, she worked here for about 18 years. I could not possibly list all her attributes, but just having known her and calling her my friend is an honor. Her final contribution to our world was donating her organs as she had requested. Our prayers go out to Tim, Hannah, Rebecca and Crickett at this time.

We did get the perennials moved outside last week, and everything is looking really good! We have most of the flowering annuals back in the retail house, there are a few that are not in bloom yet, so I haven't moved them. Folks are buying tomatoes and peppers like crazy, I am hoping that the weather holds like they think and we don't get another nasty frost, as it could still happen!! We are open for business, most of our loyal customers are very considerate of the social distancing, and I think that the majority of us are wearing masks. We will continue to keep the glass shield up at the check out for everyone's sake and pray that everyone stays healthy. If you are at high risk for infection we are still offering curb service; just call in your order with your credit card info and we can bring it out to you. Please be patient with us as this is new territory for us all.

Mother's Day will be here in two weeks, and things are going to be in full swing from now on out. Our hanging baskets have been pinched back to promote bushing and they should be in full bloom by then. We have all sizes, shapes, prices and varieties of containers for the patios and porches. It doesn't look like we will be ordering in any flowering shrubs as we usually do for May, the shipping has been too irregular and covid has made things too unpredictable. The flower shop will, of course, have a great assortment of fresh cut flower arrangements for your Mom!!!

STARTING TODAY, APRIL 26TH, WE WILL HAVE THE GREENHOUSE OPEN ON SUNDAYS FROM 1 TO 4PM THROUGH THE MONTH OF MAY!!!!! PLEASE come see us!!!
